Nothin but a probe droid at the beach

I love star wars stuff, so i went hunting for a probe droid. Like most things on the net, it's not friendly to lightwave. Although the model's shape was ok, i had to completely replace the surfacing with lightwaves surfacing. this was done in lw 2015 before principle shading in 2018.
There is a nice animation, eventually, I'll be able to show it. Compositing is of course always done in fusion. Shadow is a white plane with a black body rendered on to it with the probe droid obscured. There has got to be a better way to get shadows out of lightwave.

As always, getting the cg element to marry or blend with the background plate is the job of a composite artist. If done correctly, it will look like it lives in the plate. that's the mark of a good composite artist.
