This Gundam was textured by a friend of mine on facebook (xavier enfruns) you can see more of his fantastic mecha here - https://www.artstation.com/cosmos28 , who let me play with it. The Lair i created for the show Max steel in 2000.
Part of playing with this was taking his photo real version and turning into a cel styled version as good as the real anime version.
Lightwave outlines were turned on, varying thicknesses guessed at, and a run through foto sketcher to provied that water colored look, and finally a bunch of post process like blur, glow, grain in fusion.
I've been trying to get that cel style for quite awhile now in lightwave, and i think i'm there. The mixture of water color and cel edges seems to work just fine, however for stills. It doesn't work for animation. Ulimately i think All objects have to be UV mapped and brought into a paint program, and then filtered with foto sketcher to bake into the models themselves the watercolored look. Only then will it animate properly and retain the cel style look. LIghting and layout are of course by me. cg Generalist !!
